When you go on holiday, the destination is what matters. You probably just book the cheapest flight you can find.
With contracts, data capture is the flight and the contract database is the destination.
But unlike with holidays, everyone is focused on “data extraction” and not on the destination for all that extracted data, even though the destination is where all the value gets realised.
There’s a good reason for this. If 50% of all flights crashed, you would probably never fly.
If you had to fly somewhere, you would put all your energy into picking a flight that doesn’t kill you and forget about the cockroaches in the hotel.
The world is so mired in bad contract data capture that it has taken all the attention. One day that will change. And when it does, the real winners will be those systems that maximise the value you get from that data.
