Build on the Nomio API

The Nomio API lets you connect Nomio with your other systems. Upload documents from anywhere, retrieve agreements, data points, and documents, and subscribe to webhooks so you know the moment new data is ready to be picked up.

How to get started

You’ll need an API key. An Administrator can generate one in a couple of clicks from your Manage API page, and you can test it straight away against the interactive API reference. The guide walks through it step by step.

About the integration

The API is a REST interface over the same clean, human-checked contract data you see in Nomio. Send documents in from any system, pull agreements, data points, and documents out into your CRM, finance system, or reporting stack, and subscribe to webhooks so your integrations react the moment an agreement is signed off instead of polling for it.

Every endpoint is listed in the interactive API reference, together with the expected inputs and outputs for each. Authorise with your key and you can try real requests from the browser.

Security

Every request is authenticated with an API key. Only Administrators can create keys, and a key is shown in full once, at the moment it is created, so it can be stored securely from the start.

The API serves only the data your organisation already holds in Nomio, and everything is encrypted in transit.

Frequently asked questions

Mostly to connect Nomio to the systems contracts already flow through. Customers use it to send documents into Nomio automatically, for example whenever a signed contract lands in a SharePoint folder, and to send the checked contract data Nomio captures back into their own systems once each agreement is signed off.

A Document is a single file. An Agreement is a collection of Documents that relate to the same legal agreement. (Documents are organised into Agreements when it is processed by Nomio.)

We can do that. Nomio can store a record ID from another system against each agreement, keeping the two directly linked. Get in touch and we’ll set it up for you.

No. An agreement ID is only ever used once: if an agreement is deleted, its ID is retired rather than reused.

Yes. Your data is encrypted both at rest and in transit. Data at rest is protected with industry-standard AES-256 encryption, and all data moving between you, Nomio, and our infrastructure travels over TLS 1.2+. This applies to your live data and to backups alike.

Encryption keys are held in a managed key-management service with strict access controls and regular rotation, and our cryptography controls are independently audited as part of our ISO 27001 certification. You can find more detail in our Trust Centre.

The API, MCP, and all native integrations are included on every plan.
